Lip Blush… What is it?

Lip Blush, alternatively recognized as Aquarelle Lips, Watercolor Lips, or Kissable Lips, is a cosmetic tattoo procedure falling under the category of Lip PMU (Permanent Makeup). Its’ primary purpose is to enhance the natural color of the lips, offering a spectrum of results ranging from a subtle, understated appearance to a more pronounced and matte lipstick-like finish.

•You cannot get permanent brow work done if you have had botox or filler in the lip area within 1 month before your service. Please schedule these appointments accordingly.

    • Absolutely no lasers, peels or other intense exfoliating skin treatments within the month before your PMU service.

    • If you are anemic or a smoker, your pigment will likely fade faster than average.

  • · It is highly recommended and will solidify anything that might have faded after the first treatment. Most permanent cosmetics require a minimum of 2 sessions to solidify the pigment. Everyone heals differently, so if you do not heal perfectly the first time, don’t worry! Color may also need an adjustment at the second session to achieve your desired look.

    · Lip blush will require touch ups every 2-3 years depending on your skin type and lifestyle to maintain even color.

  • After your cosmetic tattoo has healed, a good sunscreen should be applied to the area daily (no sooner than 10 days). Sun exposure will cause color to fade faster. The pigments used are organic so the color will naturally fade overtime. The fading speed depends on a number of different factors including skin type, sun exposure, pigment color used, and iron deficiency. The longevity of lip blush can vary.

Typically, results can last anywhere from 2 to 3 years. Proper aftercare is crucial to ensure optimal healing and long-lasting results. As with any cosmetic procedure, individuals should consult with their permanent makeup technician to discuss their expectations, desired outcome, and any potential risks or considerations.

If you are planning a chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or laser treatment on your face, please inform your technician! Careful application must be taken to avoid affecting the tattooed area.

The following must be avoided during all 14 days post treatment:

  • Increased sweating

  • Practicing sports

  • Swimming

  • Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi

  • Sun tanning or salon tanning

  • Exposure to UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading

  • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area

  • Touching of the treatment area except for when applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab

  • Picking, peeling, or scratching of the treatment area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment

  • Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris

  • Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds

  • Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles

If you have any unexpected problems with the healing of the skin, please contact Tatts All Over immediately, to discuss further instructions.

Contact a physician if any signs or symptoms develop such as the following: fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, and/or any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.

Healing Process:

  • On day one, immediately after the procedure, the color of the lips is vibrant and crisp.

  • As it heals, the lips with will begin to shed a thin layer allowing a natural color to appear.

  • It takes 2 weeks for your lip blush to fully heal and look like natural tinted lips.

  • A touch up is required at least 8 weeks following your initial lip blush session.
